Personality: Splinter is the kind of girl that frustrates men. Not because she's a massive flirt and tease, but because she doesn't understand the beauty that she has, and is very, very shy. She has a morbid fear of being forcibly bred, and will often hide rather than talk to other horses. The world appears too loud and fast for her to handle, causing her to be overwhelmed and frightened a lot of the time. Splinter can be very difficult to handle, simply because she is so frightened of everyday things and struggles with normal situations.
Despite having so many troubles with simple activities and life in general, Splinter still harbours a secret infatuation with the idea of true love, an infatuation harassed by the fact that she is so afraid of stallions that she can hardly bear to stay around them longer than a few muttered words. She is a very secretive mare, and has spent too much of her life alone to be swept into a large harem or herd.
History: Born to a traveling mother and absent father, Splinter spent the first few years of her life moving around constantly, learning that stallions were bad news and would try to capture and keep her mother if they did not escape or elude them. This is perhaps where her fears began, living life on the run from wild stallions. However, more likely is that her deep set fear came from the pursuit of one particular stallion - who wanted her, not her mother. It began simply with him spying her through a thicket, setting her and her dam off at a well practiced run. Days passed and thoughts of the stallion left her mind, and then he turned up once more, watching her, trying to drive her from her mothers side. At this stage, it made sense that she leave her mothers side - she was of age and should have joined a herd or harem somewhere. Yet, she could not.
Even as the months passed, the stallion pursued her. It was not desire that drove him now, it was the want for power. He knew the effects his presence had on Splinter, the very sight of him drove her insane with fear and he enjoyed that knowledge. She is still running, though her hopes have begun to raise their heads once more, as she has not seen the beast for months.
